Information on University life during quarantine (constantly updated)

Lithuania is quarantined and the country has temporarily stopped the study process, therefore we are sharing the most essential information about university life for the upcoming two weeks.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Any study activity for students of every study level, form and course are cancelled from 13th March. Students are sent off to 2 weeks vacation;
  • During these 2 weeks, the academic community is getting ready for remote lectures;
  • You can get all the information about the current situation in the university from the e-mail bendruomene@ktu.lt;
  • If you returned from a country that was diagnosed with a COVID-19 outbreak, you must self-isolate for at least two weeks and observe your health;
  • If you suspect that you or anyone from your environment has coronavirus, you must immediately contact the coronavirus hot-line 1808.

 

DORMITORIES

  • When possible, we urge you to leave the dormitories during the quarantine period;
  • Realizing that not everyone is able to leave due to various circumstances, we are informing that dormitory residents who wish to stay in dormitories during the quarantine period must send a request by e-mail bendrabuciai@ktu.lt stating the reason for stay (no possibility to come to the place of residence, the necessity for work, health reasons, etc.) until 2020. March. 17th 12:00 AM;
  • The University reserves the right to impose disciplinary measures on residents who fail to comply with these terms. In addition, residents who did not submit the request will be treated as leaving the dormitories, which may cause problems with further access to the dormitory;
  • Residents who will leave the dormitories for the period from 15 March. until March 30 the accommodation fee for the dormitory will not be deducted;
  • When possible, do not go to the dormitory when returning from countries at risk. If you do not have this opportunity, please be aware that when returning from countries at risk, the Dormitory Administration must be informed and you must follow-up with a 14 days self-isolation period. The countries at risk are China, Hong Kong SAR, Iran, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Egypt. The list of countries is constantly updated;
  • It is necessary to observe personal hygiene requirements and avoid gatherings in dormitory common areas.

 

ERASMUS AND EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

If you want to return:

  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will register Lithuanian citizens, foreigners with working or living permits, who have no possibility of returning to Lithuania independently until March 17, 6 PM (Lithuanian time). Registration is for travellers, temporary residents, those who have no living space and are unable to return to their residence in Lithuania;
  • Lithuanian citizens must immediately contact the Lithuanian Embassy accredited to their country of residence by e-mail. All contact details are available at https://urm.lt/default/en/embasycontacts

If you want to stay:

  • You must comply with the laws, regulations and guidelines of the country in which you are located to protect your health and those around you.

 

FINAL PRACTICE AND FINAL PROJECTS

Final practice:

  • Communicate with the company/institution where you have your mandatory practice and follow the internal rules of the company/institution. If the company / institution does not cease its activities, you continue to practice;
  • Pursuant to the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, work in public sector state and municipal institutions, state and municipal enterprises is organized remotely, except when it is necessary to perform relevant functions at the workplace. The necessary emergency functions must be performed. The recommendation for the private sector is to work in the same form of work organization as the public sector;
  • If the company/institution has decided to discontinue its activities during the quarantine period, depending on whether you have fulfilled the objectives and requirements of the practice, the practice may not be continued.

Final projects:

  • The process of preparing final theses has not changed in any way;
  • It is recommended to consult the thesis supervisor remotely.

 

LIBRARY AND OTHER SERVICES

Library:

  • All departments of KTU Library will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM on March 16-27, but only the issuing / returning service will be open to visitors;
  • It is forbidden to work in library workrooms and reading rooms.

Study Center:

  • Study administrators will work on March 16-27, but we strongly encourage you to provide/write all required information remotely (by phone or email).

Students’ Association:

  • Faculty Student Associations and Central Bureau will work remotely from March 16-27 and will be accessible via emails or phones.
